The latest version of the Deeper App features three different colour modes. So, whatever the light and weather conditions, you’ll always be able to easily see the sonar readings on your phone screen.

The latest version of the Deeper application has no restrictions on the length of your history files. This means if you are scanning for 4 hours, you can save all four hours. There are also no limits on how many files you can save.

Offline maps are maps available to download for free through the Deeper app. You can download a huge range of offline maps for the different locations you fish. We recommend doing this before you set off on your trip using your home internet connection as it will be faster. To do this go to settings, choose offline maps from the menu and download the maps for your desired location. Then you can use the bathymetric mapping function, either in boat mode (all models) or onshore GPS mode (PRO+ only), to create detailed contour maps of the site you are fishing. These will be saved directly onto the offline map you downloaded, so you don’t need an internet or mobile connection to use this function.

There are a couple of ways fish can be displayed on your screen when using your Deeper Smart Sonar. The default setting is with Fish Icons; here, the sonar will detect which underwater objects are fish and a fish icon will show their location. If you want to see the actual sonar reading, which will show you how big each fish is, then just go to the settings panel on the app (on the left of your screen), choose “Detailed Smart Imaging” and untick “Fish Icons”.

When your screen display is in basic mode you get a display of the sonar readings your deeper unit is picking up. This display scrolls across your screen. If you select detailed mode, a vertical flasher is added to the right hand side of the display. This shows the exact depth readings underneath your sonar at that exact moment.

Not yet. Currently, Deeper smart sonars can only be used with iOS and Android devices. Our tech team is constantly working to update the software and systems we use, and monitoring the development of other platforms. If it becomes viable to launch Deeper on other platforms, we will.

Yes, but not all the features will work. The Deeper app is full of handy features for your fishing trips; a solunar calendar, weather forecasts, fishing logs and maps, plus social media sharing and much more. And combined with a Deeper smart sonar, it turns your phone into a high-grade sonar display.

Your Deeper unit is constantly scanning and sending data to your phone. The screen display updates every second, with the newest reading on the right – this means the screen is always scrolling across. So, even if your Deeper unit is stationary, your screen display will keep scrolling.

No. To access the micro USB port used for charging your Deeper Smart Sonar you need to remove the water-tight cap. So, charging the device while it is in the water could lead to the electronic components being damaged.

All Deeper smart sonars are powered by a lithium ion battery, and charging these batteries regularly will extend their life. We recommend charging your Fishfinder 3.0 at least once every 2 months, and your PRO or PRO+ at least once every 6 months.

Fully charged, the battery is good for 6 hours of usage on the Fishfinder 3.0 and 5.5 hours on the PRO and PRO+. Just be aware in very cold temperatures the battery may run down a bit faster. It takes roughly 2 hours to charge. In sleep mode, the Fishfinder 3.0 can remain for up to two months without charging. The PRO and PRO+ can remain for up to 6 months in sleep mode without charging.

The main thing to remember is that the GPS in your PRO+ unit connects directly to satellites. So, in order to ensure rock solid connectivity, we recommend putting your PRO+ in the water for 1-2 minutes prior to usage to enable it to establish a strong connection. When you are using your PRO+ for bathymetric mapping, make sure the satellite icon is green, showing your PRO+ has established a GPS connection.

The PRO+ is fitted with an internal GPS receiver which works independently of your smartphone. This means your Deeper does not need to be in the same location as your phone when using GPS, which is why you can use it for mapping waters from the shore; just cast it out and start mapping. By contrast, the Fishfinder 3.0 and PRO models do not have internal GPS. This means they use the GPS readings from your phone for functions like bathymetric mapping and GPS ice hole marking. The important point here is that your phone must be in the same location as your deeper unit (or as close as possible). That’s because the data readings from your Deeper will be saved for the location your smartphone is at. So if there is a big difference, the readings won’t be accurate.

If you are casting your PRO or PRO+ long distances, it is possible that you will experience connectivity issues. This is because, as the Wi-Fi signal becomes weaker the further away it gets, your phone will automatically start searching for a stronger signal, which may cause disconnection. To stop this, simply turn off Mobile Data, and in the case of iOS devices Wi-Fi Assist, and your phone will stay connected to your smart sonar’s Wi-Fi signal.

Yes it will. The PRO+ has a built-in GPS receiver that will connect directly to global positioning satellites. Functions that use GPS (like on shore mapping) feature a satellite icon. When the icon is green, it means your unit has a satellite connection.

No you don’t. Whether you are using a PRO + (with built-in GPS), a PRO or a 3.0, you can use functions that use GPS such as bathymetric mapping in boat mode and GPS ice hole marking without a phone or internet connection. In the case of the PRO +, it’s built-in GPS functions independently of your phone and connects directly to satellites. The PRO and 3.0 use your phone’s GPS for these functions, but this works even if you don’t have a phone or internet signal. In this situation, the connection to GPS may be a bit slower than if you have a phone signal, but it still works fine.

No. Your Deeper smart sonar will work without any mobile or internet connection, so you don’t need to worry if the location you’re fishing has a mobile signal or not. You could be fishing in the Amazon rainforest and your Deeper smart sonar will still work. There are one or two minor functions on the app which require an internet connection, for example weather forecasts.

We have ruggedized the casing on all Deeper smart sonars to ensure they can withstand tough conditions. Of course, damage to the casing can still occasionally occur. In this case, do not use your device, as this could damage the internal electronic components. You should either contact our support team (sales@cernotech.net) or speak to the retailer you brought your product from.

Deeper smart sonars are designed to float on the surface of the water, and we don’t recommend submerging the device (it is waterproof up to 1 meter). Of course, it may get submerged briefly if the water is rough, and this shouldn’t affect the performance of the device. It records information for 5 seconds while underwater, then transfers this data once it resurfaces.

Deeper smart sonars can scan using both narrow beam and wide beam frequencies. Narrow beam (15°@290kHz) is used for high accuracy returns of fish, structure, detail and bottom profile. Wide beam (55°@90kHz) scans a broad area, showing fish, bait fish and bottom structure.

One of the bolts is a spare. So, use one bolt to attach your Deeper smart sonar (using two will make the readings less accurate), and keep the other in your tackle box as a spare.

No, you only need one rod. Some anglers choose to fish with two rods while using their Deeper smart sonar – with one rod they cast out their Deeper and use it to monitor underwater activity, and with the other rod they cast their bate or jig.

Yes, it is. Deeper has been designed for extensive outdoor use in a range of conditions and climates. It is ruggedized, so it can withstand bumps and bashes, and water resistant to a depth of 1 meter.

Yes, there are a range of accessories for different styles of fishing. For shore anglers, the smartphone mount is a great option for mounting your smartphone to your rod, keeping your hands free for casting. For boat fishers, the Flexible Arm lets you mount your smart sonar to your kayak or boat, so it can constantly take readings while you paddle; perfect for bathymetric mapping. And the Night Cover is great for night fishing and low visibility conditions.

No. It doesn’t matter which country you are in, or whether you have a phone or internet connection or not, your Deeper smart sonar will work. That’s because it doesn’t need a mobile network or internet connection for the product to work. Providing you can install our app on your Android or Apple device, your smart sonar will work wherever you are.

Your Deeper smart sonar, whether it’s a Fishfinder 3.0, Pro or Pro+, will work with any Apple device that has iOS 8.0 operating system or higher, and with any Android device with 4 operating system or higher. If you’re not sure, just head to iTunes or Google Play to see whether the Deeper app is compatible with your device. If yes, then your Deeper smart sonar is compatible too.
